In 1994, Vinnie, without brewing one at Russian River Brewing Co., had made a double IPA at Blind Pig Brewing Co. He had an idea for the recipe, but not a name. After much research in beer books, brainstorming, and deliberation, they came up with Pliny the Elder.

In 2010, Pliny the Younger had gained notoriety and popularity among beer enthusiasts and changed the way we release this beer forever.

During the 2020 election cycle, we decided to make a beer to commemorate plinys campaign and help make the pandemic a little more tolerable. It is straw in color and will often have a slight haze due to the fact that there is a small amount of yeast left in the beer.

The brewery has also embraced its community, hosting events like the "Rowdy River Special" and BBQ gatherings on the bank of the Russian River, creating unforgettable experiences for beer lovers.
